Tuff-Rib Metal Roofing

We provide a wide range of professional services to meet your needs for tuff-rib metal roofing. At Guenther Metal Roofing your project is our pride.

Tuff-Rib

Tuff-Rib is our most popular panel. It is the most affordable of all profiles yet with the same 40-year warranty as high-end profiles.

A common misconception is that metal roofs are way more expensive than asphalt shingle roofs. Tuff-Rib is actually very comparable in price to shingles yet with a lifetime guarantee, up to 20% savings in energy (yes, a black metal roof will be cooler than a shingle roof), and no worries of shingles flying off the roof.

Other benefits of a metal roof include a cleaner water harvest, better fire rating, and a deduction in insurance.

The panel, manufactured by Wiseline Metal Supply, has a 36” coverage and 29 gauge is the standard thickness. Each panel is cut to length and spans from eave to peak. It has a high tensile strength and combined with strategic bends in the panel, allows you to walk pretty much anywhere on the roof. Unlike some other profiles like tile or shingle that dent easier due to the lower tensile.

Guenther Metal Roofing is a firm believer in applying our panels to a 1x4 strapping. There are companies that will screw directly into a thin plywood but we have seen these screws loosening over time. The strapping gives the metal 1” of breathing space and adds insulation to the roof. It also helps with a safer installation procedure.

A benefit of reroofing with metal is that the old shingles are a superior underlayment for the roof. The tar in the shingles will seal around nails and screws from the new roof. This is great savings in labor and keeping that garbage out of the earth.

Metal roofs have many practical benefits but at the end of the day, aesthetics will be a large deciding factor between different metal profiles or even asphalt shingles.

What is Tuff-Rib Roofing?

Tuff-Rib metal roofing is a type of metal roofing system commonly used for residential, commercial, and agricultural buildings. It is known for its durability, affordability, and versatility. Here are some key features and characteristics of Tuff-Rib metal roofing:

  1. Material: Tuff-Rib roofing is typically made from steel or aluminum, which provides exceptional strength and longevity. Steel roofing is often coated with a protective layer, such as galvanized steel or zinc, to prevent corrosion.
  2. Ribbed Design: The term "Tuff-Rib" refers to the characteristic ribbed design of the roofing panels. These raised ribs or corrugations add strength and rigidity to the panels and help with water shedding. The rib spacing and height can vary depending on the manufacturer's design.
  3. Versatility: Tuff-Rib roofing is available in various colors, finishes, and materials, allowing homeowners and builders to choose a style that complements the architecture of the structure. It can be used on residential homes, commercial buildings, agricultural barns, and industrial facilities.
  4. Easy Installation: Tuff-Rib metal roofing is relatively easy to install due to its lightweight nature and interlocking panel design. This can reduce labor costs and installation time, making it an attractive choice for many construction projects.
  5. Durability: Metal roofing, including Tuff-Rib, is known for its long lifespan and resistance to various environmental factors. It can withstand harsh weather conditions, such as heavy rain, snow, and high winds, as well as resist pests and mold.
  6. Energy Efficiency: Metal roofing can be energy-efficient, as it reflects heat from the sun, reducing cooling costs in hot climates. Additionally, some coatings and finishes are designed to improve energy efficiency.
  7. Low Maintenance: Tuff-Rib roofing requires minimal maintenance over its lifespan. Occasional inspections and cleanings may be necessary to remove debris and prevent potential issues like rust or corrosion.
  8. Environmentally Friendly: Metal roofing is often considered environmentally friendly due to its recyclability. At the end of its life cycle, the metal panels can be recycled rather than ending up in a landfill.
  9. Cost-Effective: Tuff-Rib metal roofing is often more cost-effective compared to some other roofing materials, such as asphalt shingles or clay tiles. Its longevity and low maintenance requirements can make it a cost-effective choice in the long run.
  10. Warranty: Manufacturers typically offer warranties for Tuff-Rib metal roofing, which can vary in duration and coverage. These warranties provide additional peace of mind for property owners.

It's important to note that the specific features, benefits, and pricing of Tuff-Rib roofing may vary depending on the manufacturer and the region. Before choosing a roofing material, it's advisable to consult with a professional roofer to determine the best option for your specific needs and location.
