What is Board & Batten Siding?

Board and batten roofing is a traditional style of roofing that involves the use of wooden boards and battens to create a durable and visually appealing roof surface. Here's how it typically works:

• Boards: The "boards" in board and batten roofing refer to the large wooden planks that form the primary surface of the roof. These boards are usually placed horizontally across the roof structure, providing the main covering.

• Battens: The "battens" are narrow strips of wood that are placed vertically over the gaps            between the boards. These battens serve several purposes. They help to secure the boards in place, provide additional support and stability to the roof structure, and also help to weatherproof the roof by covering the gaps between the boards.



• Installation: Board and batten roofing is typically installed by placing the boards horizontally across the roof rafters or trusses and then attaching the battens vertically over the seams between the boards. The battens are usually nailed or screwed into place, ensuring that they are securely fastened to the underlying structure.
